His calling had always been that of a micro-storyteller; however, since it wasn’t a serious profession, he took a course to become a security guard. He loved solitude, so he specialized in the night shift: he became a night watchman. He worked at an office building and a department store before ending up at the Natural History Museum.
He knew drinking wasn’t allowed, but that time he took a bottle of brandy from Jerez and a glass. He knew he couldn’t fall asleep, but he stretched out on the floor, next to the complete skeleton of the diplodocus, and had a dream in which a gang of thieves stole all the bones one by one; he was not only fired, but also vilified, tortured, and executed. As you can imagine, none of that happened. When he woke up, the dinosaur was still there. And for many years to come, Augusto remained the night watchman at the Natural History Museum.
