MEET THE WINE PRODUCER

The guardian of a heritage in expert hands.

Reyes Gómez

Caring for a century-old legacy.

Reyes Gómez studied Chemical Engineering in Puerto Real. For several months, she combined her studies at the university with an internship as a laboratory assistant at Sánchez Romate. She rose through the ranks to become an oenologist and technical director of the winery, where she has worked for over 15 years. She is a member of the Andalusian Association of Oenologists and has served as technical director and oenologist at Bodegas Sánchez Romate since 2005.

Reyes Gómez oversees the entire production process, from fermentation to aging, blending, and quality control. He is also responsible for safeguarding the original Cardenal Mendoza recipe, which he manages with precision and respect for its essence.

Their work combines technical knowledge and sensitivity, ensuring that every phase of the process maintains the style and quality that define the winery. In a process where nothing happens immediately, their task is to observe, adjust, and decide at the precise moment. Because in brandy production, experience is measured not only in years, but in the ability to understand when to act and when to wait.

“When I was born, Cardenal Mendoza was already here.”

Now it’s my turn to take care of it.”
