ROMATE
SPIRIT
Since 1781, the character of Jerez bottled.
For centuries, Jerez has been a hub for the wine trade, a place where tradition and ambition intersected on a daily basis. By the late 17th century, its activity was already intense, attracting merchants from all over Europe who were fascinated by the uniqueness of its wines.
In this context, in 1781, Don Juan Sánchez de la Torre founded Sánchez Romate Hnos. with a clear vision: to create wines of exceptional quality and to project the name of Jerez beyond its borders.
Since then, the winery has maintained a rare distinction: it has always been in the hands of local owners. A continuity that not only preserves the legacy but also a way of understanding the craft.
The founder’s curiosity and passion paved the way. That constant pursuit of excellence quickly established the house’s prestige, both within and beyond Jerez.
More than just products, they are an experience: a connection to history, to the land, and to a way of understanding pleasure through simplicity and authenticity.
Over time, Sánchez Romate has evolved without losing its essence. Innovation has always gone hand in hand with tradition, ensuring that every technical advancement reinforces—rather than replaces—the inherited expertise.
The pivotal moment came in 1887, when the fourth generation decided to produce a brandy initially intended for the family’s private use. Thus was born Cardenal Mendoza, now one of the leading names in Brandy de Jerez.
Today, Sánchez Romate’s wines and brandies maintain the international spirit of their origins, alongside a firm commitment to quality, authenticity, and respect for tradition.
