THE DUTCHMAN'S JOURNEY

Captain Ahab, weary of whales, retired to a quieter life. His greatest treasure was a bottle of brandy from Jerez containing an impossible ship. It was no model. Every night, by the light of an oil lamp, he watched as the little schooner sailed across the amber sea. The ghostly crew hoisted sails of smoke and toasted with thimbles of that very brandy. They sailed eternally on an ocean of time, with no destination other than the next wave of oak and grape. Ahab never opened it. He knew that there are journeys that only exist as long as they remain sealed, and that the best brandy is the one that contains a dream.Francisco C. Ayudarte Granados.
