
A jury chaired by writer Mauricio Gil Cano and composed of Josefa Parra Ramos, poet and director of the Caballero Bonald Foundation; Ana Sofía Pérez-Bustamante Mourier, full professor of Spanish Literature at the UCA; writer and deputy director of the Royal Hispanic American Academy, José López Romero, professor of Language and Literature, researcher and critic, supernumerary member of the Royal Academy of San Dionisio, and Evaristo Babé Romero, president of the Regulatory Council of Brandy de Jerez, decided to award the following prizes at the 9th “Cardenal Mendoza” International Microfiction Contest:
- First prize: “Continuidad de las copas,” originally by Raúl Óscar Ifran, from Buenos Aires (Argentina).
A total of 1,990 entries from thirty countries were submitted to the competition: Spain, Germany, Austria, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Slovakia, the United States, France, Guatemala, Honduras, Israel, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Poland, the United Kingdom, the Dominican Republic, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
