A jury chaired by the writer Mauricio Gil Cano and composed of Josefa Parra Ramos, poet and coordinator of the Caballero Bonald Foundation, Ana Sofía Pérez-Bustamante Mourier, professor of Spanish Literature at the UCA, writer and member of the Royal Hispanic American Academy, and Evaristo Babé Romero, president of the Regulatory Council of Brandy de Jerez, decided to award the following prizes of the V International Microfiction Competition “Cardenal Mendoza“:
- First prize: “Sherry Tango”, original by Ramón Camacho Rodríguez, resident in El Puerto de Santa María (Cádiz).
- Second prize: “Vacío”, original by Alodía Villasante Marín, resident in Algeciras (Cádiz).
- Third prize: “The last word”, original by Victoriano Alcalde Azcune, resident in Irún (Gipúzcoa).
- Non Plus Ultra Mention: “Brief philosophical dictionary”, original by Sergio Estébanez Sáez, resident in Burgos.
The competition received 1186 entries from twenty-seven countries: Spain, Germany, Argentina, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, United States, France, Greece, Guatemala, Honduras, Israel, Italy, Mexico, Peru, Portugal, United Kingdom, Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Venezuela.
